A little history about the Andersen shopping trolley: In 1958 the Andersen couple started producing shopping trolleys from an old stable belonging to one of the parents. The demand for shopping trolleys increased and the stable soon became too small. In 1962 the company moved to its own production site and to this day the Andersen shopping trolley is still designed, developed and manufactured in Germany. Production starts with the aluminium frame that forms the basis for the lightweight shopping trolleys. Depending on the design, the frame is fitted with a base, canvas, wheels and an extendable handle.
Innovation is of high importance. For example, in 2014 the cooperation with the German Ortlieb was started, to provide the shopping trolleys with waterproof bags. It also makes use of recycled canvas. These canvases are extremely durable, strong and water-repellent and therefore perfect for making the trolleys.
More than 10 million Andersen shopping trolleys are sold each year, of which approximately 35% outside of Germany. This will only increase as the shopping trolley is nowadays hip, durable and convenient and finds its way more and more to younger audiences. And that is not without reason! In the shopping trolley, there is enough space for the daily groceries, whether refrigerated or not. Thanks to the handy wheels and the light weight of the trolleys, walking to the supermarket is no problem at all. The stability of the shopping trolleys ensures that they stay upright. The bags are made of a water-resistant material and have a modern design. Make it easy on yourself and buy an Andersen shopping trolley.
